Chart 01 · Overview

Washington is a city of rowhouses, condo towers, embassies and street parking, and each of those comes with its own kind of lock trouble. Five-Star Lock & Key Shop takes calls from every quadrant and sends a locksmith for home lockouts, rekeys, deadbolt installs, office hardware and car keys.

The process is simple. You call, the dispatcher asks what kind of lock or vehicle it is, and you hear the starting price from the published list. The final amount depends on the lock and the labour, and the technician confirms it on site before starting.

Short version? Call. Describe. Decide.

Chart 04 · Why call

Why DC callers use this line

  • A price before a visit

The dispatcher reads you the starting price for your job from the published list. No surprise call-out figure.

  • Rowhouse and condo know-how

Front doors with mortise locks, rear gates, building fobs and storage cages: the questions get specific because the hardware is.

  • Cars on the street

Locked out on a residential permit block or a downtown garage? Have the make, model and year ready and the right key equipment comes along.

  • Plain answers on licensing

Ask the technician for ID and a written invoice. If a job looks bigger than the estimate, you can stop before work starts.

Chart 08 · FAQ

Questions people ask

How much does a lockout cost in DC?

The price sheet lists a $29.00 service call fee plus lockout service starting at $19.00. The total depends on the lock and labour, and the technician confirms it before starting.

Do you work in every quadrant?

Yes. Calls come from NW, NE, SE and SW. Some federal buildings and secure campuses need the property's own security office to approve a visit first.

Can you rekey instead of replacing the locks?

Usually, yes. Rekeying changes the pins so old keys stop working while the existing hardware stays. It is often the cheaper choice after a move.

Can I get a car key made if I lost the only one?

In many cases. Have the VIN, the registration and your ID ready. Some newer vehicles need dealer-only programming; the dispatcher will tell you if that applies.

Is the business name the legal entity?

No. The terms explain that the site uses an advertising name and refers jobs to independent locksmith contractors. Read them on the Terms page.

Chart 09 · Callback

Request a callback

Leave a number and a short note. A dispatcher calls back to confirm the job, the address and the starting price before anyone is sent. For a lockout in progress, calling 202-753-3660 is quicker.

A quick human check runs when you send.

We use your details only to return your call. A dispatcher reviews each request.
